Terms of Service

Effective date: January 1, 2026 · Last updated: January 1, 2026

1. About Prelude

Prelude is a technology marketplace platform that connects parents and guardians (“Members”) with independent activity providers (“Providers”) offering enrichment programs, classes, camps, and experiences for children in the Los Angeles area.

Prelude is a marketplace, not a service provider. Prelude does not provide classes, programs, or activities. All activities are provided by independent Providers who are solely responsible for their services, staff, facilities, and conduct. Prelude is not an employer, partner, or agent of any Provider.

2. Eligibility and Account Creation

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of any child whose profile you add to your account.

Children do not create accounts on Prelude. All accounts are created and managed by parents or legal guardians. Child profiles are added by the account holder to personalize activity recommendations. Prelude does not communicate directly with children or collect data directly from children. All data relating to a child is provided by the parent or guardian account holder.

By adding a child profile, you represent and warrant that you are the parent or legal guardian of that child and that you consent to Prelude storing and using that child’s information (name, age, interests) solely for the purpose of personalizing activity recommendations and facilitating bookings as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. Bookings and Payments

When you book an activity through Prelude, you are entering into a direct agreement with the Provider offering that activity. Prelude facilitates the transaction as a marketplace intermediary and is not a party to the service agreement between you and the Provider.

Prices displayed are the total amount you will be charged. Prelude does not add booking fees or surcharges to the price displayed at checkout. Payments are processed securely by Stripe.

Cancellation and refund terms are set by each Provider and displayed on the listing. Prelude is not responsible for Provider cancellation decisions.

4. Provider Relationships and Liability

All Providers listed on Prelude are independent businesses. They are not employees, agents, partners, franchisees, or joint ventures of Prelude. Prelude does not supervise, direct, or control any Provider’s services, staff, facilities, or operations.

Prelude requires Providers to maintain valid business licenses and general liability insurance as a condition of listing. Prelude verifies submitted documentation but does not guarantee the accuracy of third-party submissions or the conduct of any Provider.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PRELUDE IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURY, LOSS, DAMAGE, OR HARM ARISING FROM PARTICIPATION IN ANY ACTIVITY BOOKED THROUGH THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING ACTS OR OMISSIONS OF ANY PROVIDER OR THEIR STAFF.

5. Liability Waiver

By completing a booking, you acknowledge that activities may involve physical, mental, or other risks. You voluntarily assume all risks associated with the activity and release Prelude and the applicable Provider from any and all claims, demands, or liability for injury, loss, damage, or death arising from participation, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

You confirm that you have reviewed the program details, that your child meets the stated age and physical requirements, and that you accept full responsibility for your child’s participation.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
  • Misrepresent your identity or your relationship to any child
  • Submit false reviews or ratings
  • Attempt to contact or directly solicit Providers outside the platform to circumvent booking fees
  • Use the platform in any way that could harm children

7. Reporting Concerns

If you witness or experience any conduct by a Provider or their staff that raises safety concerns regarding a child, please report it immediately to Prelude at safety@preludela.com. Prelude will investigate all reports and reserves the right to remove any Provider from the platform at its sole discretion. Reports are confidential.

8. Intellectual Property

All content, design, trademarks, and intellectual property on Prelude are owned by Prelude or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission.

9. Termination

Prelude reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at its discretion, including for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@preludela.com. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Prelude will be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association, conducted in Los Angeles County, California. You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California without regard to conflict of law principles.

11. Changes to These Terms

Prelude may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the platform after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
